Mechnano is excited to announce that it has been recognized with the 2023 Mexico Technology Award in the ESD Materials category for “C-Lite” vat photopolymerization resin developed in partnership with Tethon3D. “C-Lite” is set to transform Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) providers’ processes, enabling them to achieve enhanced efficiency and cost savings through the implementation of additive manufacturing (AM) techniques. The award was officially announced on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, during the SMTA Guadalajara Expo in Mexico.

Agility is crucial in the fast-paced realm of customer-specific applications and low-volume production runs. Manufacturers frequently face the challenge of ensuring the safety of printed wiring assemblies during high temperature reflow processes by utilizing custom carriers and pallets. These specialized components play a vital role in effectively shielding electronic elements from electrostatic discharge while enduring numerous cycles of rigorous high temperature wave soldering processes (reaching temperatures as high as 245°C).

Traditional manufacturing techniques can impede production speed and increase costs when it comes to fabricating custom ESD components. The main challenge lies in rapidly producing bespoke ESD parts that can withstand the demanding thermal cycles.

To tackle this challenge, Mechnano has partnered with Tethon3D to develop “C-Lite.” This resin has been specifically formulated to be compatible with various vat photopolymerization systems. Leveraging the vat photopolymerization process enables part fabrication with impeccable precision and an outstanding surface finish. Moreover, this method capitalizes on design flexibility, allowing for the rapid production of customized parts tailored to meet unique requirements.

The introduction of “C-Lite” to the market signifies a major advancement in AM capabilities for ESD materials. This innovation has the potential to transform the operations of EMS providers, enabling them to achieve faster production cycles, cost reduction, and overall enhanced efficiency.

The Mexico Technology Awards acknowledge the latest innovations available in Mexico produced by OEM manufacturing equipment and materials suppliers during the last 12 months. For more information, visit www.mexicoems.com/mta-awards.
