ESD-safe corner clamping fixture, 3D printed using Mechnano’s high-performance, static-dissipative pellet materials.

(Mesa, AZ) Mechnano today announced the availability of two new electrostatic dissipative (ESD) materials for additive manufacturing development: PC-ABS ESD and PPSU Tough ESD. These pelletized materials expand Mechnano’s portfolio into higher-performance engineering polymers, supporting applications that require a balance of mechanical durability, thermal stability, and controlled electrostatic behavior.

The PC-ABS ESD material combines the dimensional stability and thermal resistance of polycarbonate with the impact strength and processability of ABS, enabling a balanced mechanical profile suited for durable, electrically sensitive components. The PPSU Tough ESD material builds on the inherent strength, toughness, and high heat resistance of PPSU, offering performance in more demanding environments where mechanical robustness and thermal stability are critical. Both materials incorporate Mechnano’s discrete carbon nanotube (dCNT) technology, forming an engineered conductive network throughout the polymer matrix to support stable, isotropic static-dissipative behavior while preserving core material properties.
Potential applications include housings, fixtures, and components used in electronics manufacturing, as well as parts requiring durability, moderate to high heat resistance, and consistent electrostatic control.

“These materials reflect how our dCNT platform can be applied across a range of engineering polymers without compromising their inherent performance,” said Olga “Dr. O” Ivanova, Director of Applications & Technology at Mechnano. “By establishing a consistent conductive network within different material matrices, we enable reliable electrostatic behavior alongside the mechanical and thermal properties engineers expect.”

Mechnano’s proprietary dCNT platform detangles, separates, and functionalizes carbon nanotubes, dispersing them uniformly into various material matrices. This approach ensures consistent electrical and mechanical performance, avoiding agglomeration issues that can lead to uneven ESD behavior. The result is materials with predictable, repeatable properties, supporting the development of components where electrostatic control and structural performance must coexist.
